Around the World in Our Neighborhoods: A Virtual Adventure
Imagine exploring the world without leaving your desk! That?s exactly what students in the General Studies Level 1 class with Morah Rochel Abrams did. They wrapped up their Social Studies unit on homes, communities, states, and countries with a thrilling and interactive activity that brought their lessons to life. The project gave students from Crown Heights, Great Neck, Philadelphia, and New Jersey a unique opportunity to become virtual tour guides for their classmates, offering a glimpse into the places they call home.

Share Your Light: Spreading the Warmth and Joy of Chanukah
At Jewish Online School , the Share Your Light project was designed to inspire students to brighten the world by sharing the beauty of Chanukah with friends and family. Through this initiative, each student received a menorah and was encouraged to spread the light?both literally and figuratively?by gifting it to someone special and teaching them about the meaning of Chanukah.

Bringing Halacha to Life: A Hands-On Approach to Teaching Kashrut and Shabbat Cooking
Understanding Jewish law, especially when it comes to detailed topics like the laws of Kashrut (kosher dietary laws) and cooking on Shabbat, can be challenging to picture in a practical setting. Morah Aviana, an 8th-grade teacher in our Jewish online school, takes a unique approach to bridge the gap. To help her students connect with these intricate laws, she virtually brings them into her kitchen and makes each halacha come alive.
Celebrating Sukkot at Jewish Online School: A Multi Curricular Approach to Learning and Connection
The Jewish holiday of Sukkot is a special time for joy, unity, and connection. Families build a sukkah, a temporary outdoor structure decorated with greenery and symbols of the season, to gather and celebrate. The holiday also includes the mitzvah (commandment) of gathering the four species?the lulav (palm branch), etrog (citron fruit), hadassim (myrtle branches), and aravot (willow branches)?which symbolize unity and togetherness.
Balancing General Studies with Jewish Education: Our Approach
The Nigri Jewish Online School has been a beacon of Jewish education for over a decade, successfully engaging students in Judaics through fun and creative methods. Responding to the enthusiastic requests from our parent body, we embarked on a new journey to incorporate General Studies into our curriculum. Thus, two years ago, our General Studies department was born, starting with a robust Math and ELA curriculum.
