Shema Under the Stars: A Night of Light, Stories, and Connection

Shema Under the Stars: A Night of Light, Stories, and Connection
Last night we gathered for one of the sweetest moments of the year, Shema Under the Stars for our younger students. Children from around the world came together in our virtual assembly room, cozy in their pajamas, ready for a bedtime filled with meaning.
Together, the children said Shema, listened to a Jewish story with a powerful lesson, and each shared something good about their day. There is something incredibly special about hearing young voices say words that have been whispered at bedtime for generations. The power of Shema being said by little children, each one with hand over eyes, full of sincerity, lit up our virtual night sky.
As Mrs. Chanie Hertzel, our principal, put it so beautifully: "Adorable story time and Shema reading! It’s so sweet and precious to see all the kids covering their eyes, saying Baruch Shem, and doing the motions… it’s truly incredible!"
Run by Goldie Shemtov, the evening was filled with warmth, excitement, and unity. Even across countries and time zones, our students felt connected, learning, singing, and sharing as one big Jewish family.
