At JOS, we are fortunate to have outstanding educators who go above and beyond to ensure their students thrive in a virtual learning environment. One shining example is Morah Norit Binat, who is currently in her third year teaching at JOS. Her passion for teaching and innovative approaches make her a standout member of our team.

Getting to Know Morah Norit

We had the pleasure of speaking with Morah Norit to learn more about her teaching journey and what makes her class so special.

Q: How many years have you worked at JOS?
Morah Norit: This is my third year working at JOS, and it's been an incredible experience!

Q: What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Morah Norit: For me, the most rewarding part is seeing how much progress the students make. Since we’re in a virtual classroom, it's especially meaningful to witness how much the children enjoy learning here. Many of them didn’t have the best experiences in traditional schools, but here, we see a real difference in their engagement and enthusiasm.

Q: When you aren’t teaching, what do you enjoy doing?
Morah Norit: When I’m not teaching, I’m usually working, but when I get the chance, I enjoy catching up with friends and baking. I find baking to be such a relaxing and creative outlet.

Q: What’s your must-have item for teaching at JOS?
Morah Norit: My computer is a must-have, of course, along with all the books we need for class. And I always keep water nearby—it’s essential!

Q: What’s your favorite subject to teach?
Morah Norit: I love teaching English and Social Studies! While math can be fun to teach in creative ways, English, Social Studies, and even Science offer so many opportunities for interactive and engaging lessons.

Q: What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
Morah Norit: I’ve been teaching for over 16 years, and I have a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Not everyone knows that about me. Also, I’m a bit scared of flying!

Q: What do you love most about JOS?
Morah Norit: I love the incredible support we receive at JOS. The administration always has our backs, and I feel genuinely appreciated. The parents are also wonderful to work with—kind, supportive, and engaged. It’s a truly collaborative environment, and I never feel like I’m on my own here.

A Week in the Life of Level 2 General Studies

Last week, Morah Norit’s Level 2 General Studies class had a fantastic week filled with dynamic learning activities and milestones.

Social Studies

  • Presidential Applications: Students took their first steps in leadership by applying for class president. Next week’s debate promises to be a highlight, as students share their ideas and demonstrate their skills.

  • Learning About Delaware and West Virginia: Geography lessons are brought to life with interactive activities, helping students learn about the unique features of each state.

Science

  • Ecosystems and Habitats: Students explored the fascinating world of ecosystems, distinguishing between biotic and abiotic elements. The Habitat in a Box project allowed them to creatively demonstrate their understanding of how animals and living things rely on habitats.

English

  • Phonics Focus: Students mastered the sounds of oy/oi and ou/ow, building a strong foundation in reading and spelling.

Math

  • Multiplication Mastery: Students are making strides in multiplication, focusing on multiplying by 3. They’ll take their skills further with next week’s quiz on multiplying by 3 and 9.

Creating Fun and Engaging Lessons

Morah Norit’s teaching methods bring her lessons to life. Whether it’s learning U.S. states and capitals in a fun and interactive way, or making phonics enjoyable, her creativity keeps students engaged and excited about their education.

At JOS, we are proud to have such dedicated educators as Morah Norit Binat, who not only teach but also inspire their students to love learning. Thank you, Morah Norit, for everything you do to make JOS a special place for students!
