Celebrating 50 Years of the 12 Pesukim with Unity and Light

This year, in honor of 50 years since the introduction of the 12 Pesukim, the middle school and high school girls of Jewish Online School came together for a meaningful and uplifting virtual Lag BaOmer parade.

The program began with each girl introducing herself, sharing her name, where she is from, and the mitzvah that “lights her up.” It was truly special to hear the variety of mitzvos that inspire the girls in their daily lives. From big cities to small communities, it was beautiful to see girls from all four corners of the world united by their shared values and commitment.

We then explored the themes of the 12 Pesukim, taking time to reflect on the powerful messages each pasuk carries. The learning quickly turned into creativity as the girls were divided into breakout rooms. Each group was assigned one of the first six pesukim and worked together to design a float or banner representing its message. The results were incredible. Each group presented their creation with enthusiasm and pride, bringing the pesukim to life in colorful and meaningful ways.

After regrouping, the excitement continued with an interactive escape room challenge. The girls worked together to unlock the final six pesukim by solving clues and puzzles, all while deepening their understanding and internalizing the messages behind each one. The energy, teamwork, and determination were inspiring to watch.

This virtual Lag BaOmer parade was more than just an event. It was a celebration of unity, creativity, and connection. Even across distances, the girls came together as one, strengthening their bond through Torah, mitzvos, and shared experiences.

It was truly a special and memorable Lag BaOmer, filled with light, inspiration, and joy.
