Celebrating the Sweet Beginnings: Pre-1 Alef Beis Party at JOS
At JOS, we cherish every step in a child’s journey in Torah learning — and few milestones are as exciting and meaningful as completing their first year of formal Jewish education. Last week, our Pre-1 Alef class celebrated this important moment with a beautiful and joyous Alef Beis Party!
Moshe, Elazar, Henya Rochel, Aharon Tzvi, and Asher gathered to mark this special achievement, while Haniel, who recently moved, was missed dearly by all. Together, we honored the hard work and growth of these young learners as they completed their introduction to the Alef Beis — the foundation of all Torah learning.
We owe tremendous gratitude to Morah Chana, who patiently and lovingly guided the students through each and every letter. Her dedication and warmth lit up the classroom and made learning a joyful experience. Every child left the party with a special package: a colorful balloon, a custom crown featuring a letter from their name, a bright Alef Beis chart, a honey stick (because Torah is sweet!), and delicious Alef Beis cookies.
The program began with inspiring words from our beloved principal, Mrs. Chanie Hertzel, who thanked the parents for trusting JOS with their children’s chinuch. She highlighted how our school is built on the timeless foundations of Torah, Tefillah, and Tzedakah, and how this celebration reflected all three.
The children proudly recited Torah pesukim, sang Davening songs with excitement, and each gave Tzedakah — already practicing the mitzvos that will accompany them through life. They tasted honey on their Alef Beis charts to symbolize how sweet Torah learning is, and even discovered Alef Beis letters within a page of Tanya, connecting them to the richness of Chassidus.
The party continued with a beautiful story about the importance of every single letter in the Alef Beis, reinforcing the message that every child — like every letter — is precious and essential.
No celebration is complete without treats, and the children delighted in their Alef Beis cookies before receiving personalized certificates recognizing each one’s unique strength and contribution to the class.
The event concluded with a heartwarming surprise slideshow — a look back on a year filled with growth, learning, laughter, and love.
Mazel Tov to our Pre-1 Alef students and their families! May this be the first of many milestones in a life filled with Torah, mitzvos, and yiras Shamayim.
